In the spring of 2016, Hawbridge juniors Leif Boyer and Kat Fain (pictured above) organized a community blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross and The Haw River Ballroom. In 2017, they organized two community blood drives in Saxahapaw and trained additional Hawbridge students to continue the blood drives after they had graduated.
During the 2017-2018 blood drives, The Hawbridge School, in partnership with the American Red Cross, collected 49 units of blood. As a result, the student organizers, 2018 graduates Emily Cammer and Jacob Bartlett (pictured below), received scholarship money for college! Thank you to everyone who helped to make the blood drives a success.
