It is an exciting time to be a Heron!Â
Hawbridge has an active and growing Athletic Department. Beginning in Fall 2026, Hawbridge High School teams will be competing as members of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), and our Middle School teams will be competing in the Alamance County based Piedmont Middle School Athletic Conference (PMAC). We are currently in the process of pursuing conference affiliation for our High School teams, also for Fall 2026.
We currently offer the following sports:
Fall
Boys Cross Country (Middle School and Varsity)
Girls Cross Country (Middle School and Varsity)
Boys Soccer (Varsity)
Girls Volleyball (Middle School and Varsity)Â
Winter
Boys Basketball (Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity)
Girls Basketball (Varsity)
Spring
Girls Soccer (Varsity)
Boys Track and Field (Middle School and Varsity)
Girls Track and Field (Middle School and Varsity)
Basketball: We play our home basketball games in the newly renovated Eli Whitney Community Center. The Eli Whitney Gym is a historic landmark that provides a great (loud!) hometown atmosphere. If you’ve seen the movie, Hoosiers, you will be familiar with the type of home court venue we provide.
Cross Country: Hawbridge has some of the best Cross Country facilities of any school in the state. We have an on-campus course as well as access to several courses within walking distance of our campus that are a part of the Alamance County Parks and Recreation system including the Saxapahaw Island Park Loop and the Saxapahaw Haw River Trail. Our courses offer various elevations and surfaces as well as single track and open grassy areas all of which are great for training purposes.
Soccer: Our home soccer games are played at the Mebane Community Park, which is affiliated with the Mebane Parks and Recreation Department as well as the MYSA soccer organization. The two regulation turf fields complex was completed in 2018 and offers some of the finest soccer facilities in our area.
Volleyball: Hawbridge Volleyball matches are played at our on campus Hawbridge Gym. We have a history of packing really good crowds into our small gym which results in a great home court advantage for our Volleyball teams.
Our Athletic Department is still in a phase of expansion. The current leading candidates for additional sports to be added within the next one-two years are the following:
Boys Middle School Soccer (Fall)
Girls Middle School Basketball (Winter)
Girls and Boys Swimming (Winter)
Girls and Boys Indoor Track (Winter)
Girls Softball (Spring)
Boys Baseball (Spring)
