Creativity Takes Center Stage

At Hawbridge, the arts give students opportunities to explore creativity, develop confidence, collaborate with others, and communicate ideas in meaningful ways.

Through visual arts, music, theater, performance, and hands-on creative experiences, students are encouraged to take risks, discover new interests, and share their unique perspectives with the school community.

Whether stepping onto the stage, performing with fellow musicians, developing an artistic portfolio, or working behind the scenes, students learn that creative expression is another powerful way to grow.

Creative Expression at Hawbridge

The arts support creativity, communication, collaboration, and personal growth.

Hawbridge students explore the arts through classroom instruction, rehearsals, performances, exhibitions, and creative projects that invite them to develop both technical skills and individual expression.

Students learn to listen, respond, revise, solve problems, support one another, and contribute to work that is larger than any one person. These experiences build confidence while helping students find new ways to understand themselves and the world around them.

Theater at Hawbridge

Theater invites students to step into new roles, tell stories, and build something meaningful together.

Students may explore acting, performance, stagecraft, theatrical storytelling, and technical production through theater coursework and school productions.

Auditions for Hawbridge productions are open to students whether or not they are currently enrolled in a theater class, creating opportunities for more students to participate, develop confidence, and become part of the creative process.

Student performances take place in campus spaces including Huth Commons at the Lower School and the Upper School Theater, where families and members of the Hawbridge community can gather to celebrate students’ work.

The Wizard of Oz

A full-scale production gives students the opportunity to bring acting, music, movement, design, technical work, and storytelling together on one stage.

Productions like The Wizard of Oz invite students to collaborate across many parts of the creative process—from performance and rehearsal to costumes, sets, sound, movement, and technical production.

Each role contributes to the whole, giving students opportunities to build confidence, take creative risks, solve problems together, and experience the excitement of bringing a shared story to life.

Visual Arts

Students develop artistic skills while discovering their own creative interests and perspectives.

Hawbridge offers introductory, intermediate, and advanced visual arts experiences. Students explore artistic techniques, materials, observation, experimentation, and personal expression while building confidence in their creative choices.

Advanced students may focus their work around individual interests and portfolio development. Hawbridge graduates have gone on to continue their artistic education at colleges and art schools.

Music at Hawbridge

Bringing Learning to Life Through Sound

Music gives students a powerful way to create, communicate, collaborate, and contribute to the life of the school.

Through classroom study, ensemble work, concerts, and performances, students develop musicianship, confidence, listening skills, discipline, and collaboration. Music asks students to pay attention not only to their own part, but also to the people creating alongside them.

In performance, music can shape atmosphere, establish rhythm, support storytelling, and bring an audience more deeply into an experience. On its own, it gives students another language through which to express ideas and share their work with the Hawbridge community.

From instrumental ensembles and concerts to student bands and special performances, Hawbridge musicians learn how individual preparation becomes part of something larger.

Hawbridge students also explore communication, storytelling, teamwork, and media through hands-on projects that extend beyond traditional visual and performing arts.

Whether students are recording, presenting, designing, writing, performing, or collaborating on a shared project, these experiences encourage them to think creatively and communicate with purpose.
